Today’s Tarot Card

By The Voodoo Tarot of New Orleans.

Santera (Queen of Discs): The essence of earth behaving as water, such as a hot spring: A warm and generous santerahost, providing shelter and comfort for all who would seek it. A person steadfast, practical, and domestic, able to create opulence and stability in any setting. The qualities of maturity and sensibility, coupled with an innate appreciation for nature and the material world.

The Queen of Pentacles, like all the court cards, often stands in for an actual person in your life. In that regard, she would represent a woman, likely with dark hair and dark eyes. However this is not always the case, as these cards can also represent energetic influences in our lives.  The energy of the Queen of Pentacles is normally quite archetypically feminine; hearth, home, motherhood.

General: This card can indicate that you will be spending time, money, and energy on your home, getting it to be more comfortable. This is a good thing, provided you don’t take on too much debt. People will be looking to you for insight and/or advice. You will be able to help them, if you are so inclined. This is a time period when you can get a lot accomplished.

Work: You are likely to make great headway now. A woman with dark hair and/or eyes may play a significant role in your working life; if so, know that she is an ally for you. If possible, bring items from your home life into your work situation. This will help you to feel more “at home” there, and will likely make you more effective.

Love: In the context of love, this is a very feminine card, and also points to strategy, particularly for those who are not currently involved with anyone. The strategy to find love is the stereotypical feminine one; don’t chase it, make yourself available, but do not be desperate to bring someone new into your romantic life. When the time is right, that will be made abundantly clear to you, and you won’t have to do backflips to make something come about. Be upbeat, and know that you have many things in you which are worth loving.

Health: You may need to create time and space to focus on yourself first, in order for your health to truly improve. If you are constantly putting everyone before you and before your needs, then your health may suffer as a result. Balance in all things is important. You are just as important as anyone else.

Finances: The Queen of Pentacles is an excellent omen when it comes to money. Your prosperity level is very likely to be increasing. Don’t hesitate to spend some of your new-found wealth. Saving is important, but enjoying your life when you have the means to do so is also important. Share what you have when you can.

Spirituality: It’s critical that you trust yourself. You may not see things spiritually the way everyone else does, but your belief system works for you, and that’s what’s most important. When it comes to our spiritual lives, although it’s important to listen to the input from others, ultimately we must make our own decisions. If others don’t understand your decisions, that’s their problem.

    • Well, there could be a few reasons; perhaps it refers to a man who does not possess what we might call linear sexuality or gender. It could indicate the man might be gay or maybe that he is very in touch with the feminine aspects of his personality. It could also refer to nurturing and “motherly” qualities in a man; I have a friend who was raised by a single father and this card shows up often in readings regarding him and family in general. The card could also be representing the woman inquiring about the man. For instance, if it was you doing a reading about a boyfriend or husband and this card came up, the card might be indicating you. It depends what type of reading, what was the question, what position was the card in, etc. Pentacles also identify with the element of Earth and because of that are associated with the Earth signs in the zodiac: Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo.

In general, I look at more of the aspects of the cards and the type of personalities that they indicate more than just gender, because as you know, we can all possess qualities of both genders regardless of which gender we actually are. I also find if a card was pulled in reverse it sometimes makes more sense that it indicates the opposite gender in terms of the personality aspects it will describe. 🙂
