This tea not only helps you fall asleep – and stay asleep – it helps to calm anxiety and edginess the next day, and will get rid of a stomach ache. A client who suffers from severe anxiety tried it at my suggestion and he now swears by it. He swears that when he doesn’t drink it before bed, he is anxious, irritable and nasty-tempered the next day. It’s very simple to make.
You will need:
- 2 tbsp dried or fresh chamomile flowers
- 1/2 to 1 tbsp dried or fresh lavender flowers
- an apple (optional)
- honey (optional)
Use just enough water to fit your mug or cup. Heat the water to boiling. Place the herbs in the water and turn the burner off. Let the herbs steep in the water at least 5 minutes (the longer they steep, the stronger the tea will be). While you’re waiting, slice a very thin slice off of your apple. Place the thin apple slice in the bottom of your mug. Strain the herbs and pour the tea into the mug. Sweeten with organic honey if you like or add milk. Enjoy!
Notes: You can add a tiny splash of apple juice if you don’t have an apple. Or just omit it altogether. You can add up to a tablespoon of lavender, but this is a lot for some people. It has a very distinct taste, so start with less and see how you like it before adding more. Be mindful of your allergies and if you have low blood pressure, please do not use lavender.
